Listen first
We learn your audience, your working culture and the exact action the film should support. That makes the brief useful.
About Dartmoor Shots
Great video isn’t only about the kit. It’s about knowing the light on Peek Lane at 4pm in October, listening carefully to the person on camera, and giving every edit a clear purpose.
Dartmoor Shots is a client-first film company rooted in the South Hams. We make considered films for businesses, organisations and individuals, with the same care in a boardroom, at a live event or beside a cliff-top ceremony.
The way we work
Good work starts before the camera comes out. We ask what the film needs to change, then build the shoot around that answer.
You’ll always know who is leading your project, what happens next and when to expect the next cut. Clear communication keeps the creative work focused.
We learn your audience, your working culture and the exact action the film should support. That makes the brief useful.
Key messages, locations, interview prompts and shot priorities are agreed before production day. Fewer surprises make better use of time.
Natural gestures and real surroundings give a film its character. We make space for people to settle into the moment.
Colour, sound and pacing should serve the story. The finish feels deliberate rather than over-produced.
Local expertise
A local video production team can make practical decisions quickly. We know how a sea mist changes a coastal shoot, which lanes need extra travel time and how quickly the light moves over the South Hams.
That knowledge helps us plan properly while keeping the work open to the people and places that give Devon its character. We regularly work across the county and travel for South West film production, with coverage from Land’s End to London.
A practical production partner
The person who shapes the brief stays close to the shoot and edit. You won’t repeat your plans to a chain of contacts.
We set review dates early, flag decisions that affect delivery and keep the edit moving with focused feedback rounds.
The scope, locations, filming needs and deliverables are written down before the day is booked.
Skin tones stay believable and locations retain their atmosphere. The grade supports your brand without flattening the place.
We plan for the places your audience will see the work, including vertical and short-form versions where they make sense.
People, privacy and access come first when filming in care, community, education or personal settings.
In our clients’ words
We had a complicated story and a short window to tell it. Dartmoor Shots came prepared, made our team comfortable on camera and gave every review a clear purpose. The final film feels like us, which was the whole point.
Why did we choose Dartmoor Shots? Because they understood the place before they started filming, and that care shows in every frame.
The shoot was calm, well planned and genuinely enjoyable. We knew what was happening at each stage.
